Shit got real last week with the final pressure cooker before Pluto moved into Aquarius on January 20th. Images that spring to my mind are standing on ice and having it crack deeply all around you, knowing you have to move and NOW, but desperately unsure of what step to take.
Or alternatively, for Harry Potter fans (such as I), the scene in Deathly Hallows Part Two movie where Harry and Hermione are under so much despair and pressure, that all they can do is turn up the music, laugh and dance. This is our choice; to choose happiness and joy where they are available, regardless of the amount of stress and angst. This is within our power. That is where we can make a difference.
Honestly, I've got a lot of personal (family) stuff going on right now. I'm managing my stress and moving through it consciously, but I'm tired. I understand how this process and the things going on are necessary for my growth and journey, and while I'm willing to move through it, it is hard some days right now to focus on the positive. But when I look at my daughter (the brightest luminary in my life), I know that I want to show her how to seize joy, no matter what the weather. This is a true superpower.
It's a time to move with intention. Aside from the era defining Pluto movement earlier this week, Venus moves out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn on January 23rd; shifting from Fire to Earth, yang to yin, freedom loving to responsibility focused. Venus in Capricorn values tradition, commitment, loyalty and respect. She is deeply committed to what and who she loves and will stay even when things get tough in order to do the work to move through things.
The one thing to be very conscious of with this transit is that Venus in Capricorn can stay in situations and relationships FAR beyond the expiration date. If we are holding onto relationships, career paths or other situations out of fear of safety and security or for money reasons; Venus may put a spotlight on that during her transit through fixed, Earth.
On January 26th Mercury in Capricorn squares Chiron in Aries. This creates tension between the Mind and Intellect and our wounding. Mercury/Chiron aspects can bring up old wounds and pain in communication and thinking. It’s super important to THINK before you speak. Therapy and any kind of inner work/shadow work can be supportive as we delve into the wounding that runs us from the subconscious. Communications can get fiery, so be sure to move with kindness, as everyone you meet is fighting their own battle. However, also be sure to have clear boundaries and stand up for yourself where it is needed. This isn't about being a doormat either.
We also have a Full Moon in Leo on the 26th, marking the midway point of the current Lunar Cycle we are in that began with the New Moon in Capricorn on 1/11. This is classic Leo drama, bringing things to a head in regards to creativity, passion and romance, relationships with children, and with ego and our tendencies to be either overly self focused OR overly other focused.
This Moon will be making a square Jupiter, so there's major potential for excess emotions, excess ego, excess spending and over indulging and more. Saturn is also making a tense aspect with this Full Moon; schooling us in right use of ego and remind us of the balance between self and other, independence and interconnection, personal and collective.
Some helpful questions to ask yourself under this lunation are:
Are you really being authentic with people?
Do you actually tell others how you feel and what you want?
Are you willing to stand up for yourself?
What is blocking you creatively?
Are you aware of your own blindspots? (Yes, you have them. We ALL do.)
Where are you letting pride get in your way?
Be honest with yourself and others, and seize joy!
Much love, xx
